Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much

As referenced in the last post, I thought that, today, it might be nice to include Mrs. Stanley’s poem, “Success”, in it’s entirety.  Again, more about her:  here

He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth’s beauty or failed to express it;
Who has left the world better than he found it,
Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory a benediction.

  1. Nice to have you back. Not sure what to make of the new kinder gentler posts. I expect that Mrs. Stanley will collide with Travis Bickle soon enough.

    Don’t you owe me $20? Meliorism doesn’t always win, but that’s the way to bet.

    • Mr. White:

      Nice to be back. Hope you and yours had as nice a Christmas as we did.

      Oh, rest assured, Travis is warming up in the bullpen. Christmas always mellows him out, as it should, don’t you think? But, even a perennial anti-meliorist might still be an idealist, even if $20 poorer, to be sure.
