General Preparedness & Survival Resources
- SurvivalBlog – Number 1 (with a bullet?) on Google. This is James Wesley Rawles renowned site. Check it out, the guy’s a pro and he’s been at this for a long time.
- Don McAlvany – More great preparedness and gold investing advice. Don’s also been at this for a long time. He’s serious as a heart attack….Chuck Norris, look out. I’ve seen him speak and he definitely knows what he’s talking about.
- OffGridSurvival.com – Good advice for those wanting to stay off the grid.
- TheSurvivalMom.com – You know survivalism’s gone mainstream when your mom’s doing it.
- daycreek.com - General preparedness advice with an emphasis on cordwood building techniques.
- Off-grid.net - More “off-grid” advice.
- Self-sufficient farm living
- The Self-Reliance Exchange
- Survival Preparedness Blog
- Suburban Self-Reliance
- Adventures in Self-Reliance – Another great site on first glance.
Outdoor Skills & Resources
- Looking for wilderness area maps? Look no further. While you can get some really good ones at places like CustomCorrectMaps.com or Green Trail maps, I found this nifty MapFinder program from DDS to use with GoogleEarth that will help you make your own custom USGS topo maps. Check it out, it’s really cool.
Alternative Sources of Information
- Tools For Self-Reliance: A UK-based charity that helps to relieve poverty in Africa by promoting self-reliance through small business development. (Not, so far as I can tell, the sort of manipulative “micro-finance” scam being promoted by a number of progressive organizations.)
